Do NOT ignore a citation; please contact the Court!
If you choose to pay a citation online, a plea is required during the course of finalizing payment in the Online Pay system, and a plea and full payment of the citation online results in a conviction and no options for dismissal or compliance..
Phone calls to the Court Clerk are for information and do not qualify as making an appearance for a citation.  . Defendants may read about common options such as Deferred Disposition, Drivers Safety Course (DSC,) or compliance options on the Court's web pages.
If you fail to make an appearance, submit a plea, take a dismissal action on the citation, or make appropriate payment for your citation, you will receive a 10-day Failure to Appear, FTA, letter. If you further fail to contact the Court and attend to the citation, a “Violate Promise to Appear” may also be added to each charge listed on the citation, along with additional fines, fees, and court costs. Failure to take care of a citation may result in additional charges, fines and fees, a hold on your drivers license, or a warrant being issued for each charge listed on the citation.
If you cannot afford to pay for your citation, contact the Court Clerk for information of an alternative means of taking care of it. Appearing before the Judge in Court, defendants may be offered payment plans and community service, provided they qualify for them. Defendants must appear before the Judge to be granted community service; the Clerk may not offer that option. Please bring copies of your paycheck stubs and monthly bills to support your request for any alternative means.
