TXDOT - FM 2449 Project

TXDOT – FM 2449 Project - UPDATE

Roadway Construction on FM 2449 will consist of shoulder widening and road repair as well as drainage improvements from FM 156 to I-35W in Denton County. The work is scheduled to take place over the course of a year with the project broken into three phases. Each phase of roadway work will be controlled by temporary signals to facilitate safety and mobility during construction. This method was chosen with not only safety in mind, but also to shorten the overall duration of work and the impact to neighboring communities.

Moving forward crews will used temporary signals to prevent closing them for more than the daily working hours.

There are four streets (Churchill, Remington, Meadowlands, and Robinson) connected to the Remington Park neighborhood. The plan is to only close one of the four at a time as crews work through the area directly in front of the street. Whichever road is currently closed during that day when work is taken place will then reopen until the work continues the next day.

Phase I, which primarily affects areas east of FM 156 in the Town of Ponder, is anticipated to take at least three months to complete, according to TxDOT. However, unforeseen circumstances, such as heavy rains and hazardous work conditions may prolong completion. Work crews plan to complete improvements on the eastbound shoulder before switching the traffic pattern to complete improvements to the westbound shoulder.
