May 2, 2026 - General Election

The General Election for Town Council will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Ponder Town Hall, 102 W Bailey St, Ponder, Texas. 

A candidate must: 

- be a qualified voter of the Town of Ponder

- be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

- be a resident of the Town of Ponder for at least twelve (12) months preceding the date of the election for filing an application for place on the ballot.

- Shall not, after notice of any delinquency, be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liabilities due the town. “In arrears” is defined herein to mean that payment has not been received within ninety (90) days from due date and has not been protested under the same provisions as provided by the Charter.

No candidate may file in a single town election for more than one (1) office or place position.

The filing period for a place on the May 2, 2026, Town of Ponder General Election ballot begins Wednesday, January 14, 2026, and will continue through Friday, February 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. The Town Secretary's regular office hours are Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30am - 11:30am.
